Campbell Con 2015

On Saturday, November 7th, 2015 history was made in Campbell as the very first pop culture and comic con in Campbell took place at the Campbell Community Center.

Campbell Con 2015 was a family-friendly event and celebration of all things pop culture from comic books to movies & TV shows to games to cosplay. People of all ages gathered at the Campbell Community Center to meet celebrity guests and artists, shop from different vendors and just to have a good time.

The event featured a great celebrity guest lineup including Lana Wood, best known for her role as Plenty O'Toole alongside Sean Connery in the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever. Lana Wood was joined by other celebrity guesties including Jon Provost, best known as Timmy on the popular TV show Lassie, Kathy Garver who portrayed Catherine "Cissy" Davis on sitcom Family Affair and provided the voice of Firestar on the Saturday morning cartoon Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends.

Also appearing at Campbell Con were Dominick Brascia, ‘"Joey" in Friday the 13th Part V, and Debbie Lee Carrington whose credits include the role of Romba the Ewok in Star Wars - Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, as well as parts in many movies and TV shows including Total Recall, Men in Black, Seinfeld, Baywatch, Dexter and Bones.

Campbell Con also featured an array of special guests from the comic book industry including renowned artists Chris Marrinan (Excalibur, Wonder Woman), John Heebink (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Nick Fury Agent of SHIELD), Joe Weems (X-Men, The Tomb Raider) and Mark Badger (Batman: Jazz, Spiderman Online), Steve Sherman (Kobra, Capt. Victory, Galactic Rangers, Silver Star), as well as Underground cartoonist Bruce Simon and Omar Morales, creator of the comic book CruZader: Agent of the Vatican.

Attendees could take part in Magic and X-Wing tournaments and, of course, cosplay. Many showed up dressed up as their favorite superheroes and sci-fi and fantasy characters from Spiderman and Thor to Harry Potter and Doctor Who. Several went for a Star Wars themed cosplay in celebration of the upcoming movie. Star Wars fans also enjoyed meeting the members of The 501st Legion and Saber Guild.

Campbell Con turned out to be a day of fun for the entire family and put Campbell on the map as a new destination for pop culture entertainment.
